As part of our Local Church Review by Presbytery we will be coming together for worship on Sunday at 11.00am in Melrose Church. (No service in Bowden). Following the service the Review Team are keen to meet the congregation over coffee in the Church Hall.

 

Melrose services are livestreamed, and you can watch on our Facebook page or church website. A worship podcast based on the service will be posted on the church’s Facebook and Instagram pages on Saturday evening. You can listen by phoning 01896 808551.

 

Church Choir

The Choir rehearses in Melrose Church on Sunday mornings at 9.45am. New members always welcome!

 

Coffee After Church

Teas and coffees are available after the Melrose service in the Church Hall. All are welcome and if you would like to join the rota of helpers, please send a message to the office.

Old Melrose Guided Walks

A guided walk through 2000 years of history.  Tuesday afternoons – 7th May, 4th June, 2nd July, 6th August, 3rd September and 1st October.  Meet at Old Melrose Tearoom at 1.30pm. Adults £4, children free, dogs on lead at all times. Contact:  omwalks@gmail.com

 

Open Door

Come along to our weekly Open Door every Thursday, 10.00am-12noon, when the hall will be open for tea, coffee, company and chat. If you would like to join the rota of helpers there’s a sign-up sheet in the church kitchen. Thank you!  

 

Christian Aid Week – 12-18 May 2024

Our service next Sunday will have a Christian Aid theme. Please support Christian Aid by filling a donation envelope and putting it in with your offering, or giving online. https://www.christianaid.org.uk/give/ways-to-donate  With your help, we can work towards a world where families can escape the trap of poverty and fulfil their ambitions. 

  

Messy Church

Messy Church meets next Sunday 12 May, the start of Christian Aid Week, at 3.00pm in Melrose Church and Hall. We explore Bible stories with song, craft, games and fun. Messy Church is for all ages. Members of the congregation are most welcome to come along and watch or join in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.  

 

Worship and Fellowship at St John’s

We meet in St John’s Care Home on the second Tuesday of the month at 2.00pm for a short service of worship followed by afternoon tea. Our next service is on Tuesday 14 May. You are warmly invited to come along and share this time with the residents.

 

Bowden Community Cafe

The Bowden Community Cafe meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 11am in Bowden Village Hall. The next Cafe is on 15 May 2024. All very welcome.

 

Musical Memories 

For people living with Dementia and their partners or carers.  In the Blue Room at Langlee Community Centre, Galashiels from 10.30 – 12.00 on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. Galashiels Foodbank

With the cost-of-living crisis many are seeking help from the local Foodbank. Donations of food can be left at the pickup points in Galashiels at ASDA, M&S, Poundland, and Iceland, as well as Co-op stores in Melrose and Earlston. Eco Congregation

We collect and recycle stamps (World Mission project to help establish tree nurseries in Central Africa), specs (for re-use in the Philippines), plastic milk bottle tops (supporting cancer and palliative care charities). We also have collection boxes for batteries and printer cartridges…. PLEASE NOTE The Food Bank no longer needs egg boxes!
