The minister is on Study Leave and holiday until Thursday 18 April. Worship on Sundays 7 and 14 April will be conducted by Rev Sara Embleton. 9.30am in Bowden, 11.00am in Melrose. Pastoral cover is being provided by Rev Sheila Moir (Dryburgh Churches) and Rev Graeme Glover (Galashiels).

Worship and Fellowship at St John’s

We meet in St John’s Care Home on the second Tuesday of the month at 2.00pm for a short service of worship followed by afternoon tea. Our next service is on Tuesday 9 April. You are warmly invited to come along and share this time with the residents.

Kirk Session Meeting

The Kirk Session will be meeting with the local Church Review Team on Thursday 18 April at 7.00pm in the Church Hall.

Church Choir

Thank you for the kind comments after the choir’s contributions to last Sunday’s Service – very much appreciated.  After all their exertions, the choir is a having a short break, with practices resuming on Sunday, 21st April, when any new members will be made very welcome. 

Coffee After Church

Teas and coffees are available after the Melrose service in the Church Hall. All are welcome and if you would like to join the rota of helpers, please send a message to the office.

Open Door

Come along to our weekly Open Door every Thursday, 10.00am-12noon, when the hall will be open for tea, coffee, company and chat. If you would like to join the rota of helpers there’s a sign-up sheet in the church kitchen. Thank you!

Bowden Community Cafe

The Bowden Community Cafe meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 11am in Bowden Village Hall. The next Cafe is on 17 April 2024. All very welcome.

Old Melrose Guided Walks

A guided walk through 2000 years of history.  Tuesday afternoons – 7th May, 4th June, 2nd July, 6th August, 3rd September and 1st October.  Meet at Old Melrose Tearoom at 1.30pm. Adults £4, children free, dogs on lead at all times. Contact:

Organ Recital

An organ recital by John Kitchen to mark completion of the work on the organ will be given onSunday 28th April at 3.00pm in Melrose Parish Church.

Messy Church

Messy Church meets on the second Sunday of the month at 3.00pm in Melrose Church and Hall. We explore Bible stories with song, craft, games and fun. Messy Church is for all ages. Members of the congregation are most welcome to come along and watch or join in. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We’re taking a break in April. Our next Messy Church is on Sunday 12 May, the start of Christian Aid Week.

Galashiels Foodbank

With the cost-of-living crisis many are seeking help from the local Foodbank. Donations of food can be left at the pickup points in Galashiels at ASDA, M&S, Poundland, and Iceland, as well as Co-op stores in Melrose and Earlston. Money to buy perishable items can be donated at Thank you!

Eco Congregation

We collect and recycle stamps (World Mission project to help establish tree nurseries in Central Africa), small egg boxes (for the Galashiels Food Bank), specs (for re-use in the Philippines), plastic milk bottle tops (supporting cancer and palliative care charities). We also have collection boxes for batteries and printer cartridges…. PLEASE NOTE We are no longer collecting blister packs as there is no-one prepared to recycle them.
