An afternoon of Music – Sunday 19 June

Those We Have Loved – A Midsummer Celebration of Life is the title of Abbey Consort’s programme on Sunday, 19th June, at 3.00 pm in Melrose Church. Directed by Jim Letham and accompanied by a small instrumental ensemble, the music ranges from Monteverdi to George Shearing, including favourites such as Handel’s thrilling, Zadok, the Priest and the same composer’s Hallelujah Chorus. As well as the uplifting pieces, there will be items of a more meditative nature – Fauré’s beautiful In Paradisum, Mozart’s Ave Verum, and other wellknown and lovely pieces of choral music. Entry is by donation (suggested minimum of £10), with refreshments during the interval. All profits will be donated to The British Red Cross. An afternoon of musical delights – your support will be greatly appreciated.

Treasurer

Gordon Chisholm, our Church Treasurer, has indicated that he wishes to stand down after many years in the role. We are most grateful to him for his commitment to the church. So, we are looking for a new Treasurer. The day-to-day bookkeeping is done by the Church Secretary. The Treasurer keeps a watching eye on the financial position, reports quarterly to the Finance Committee, and prepares the annual accounts. If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please speak to the minister or William Windram, the Session Clerk.

Coffee After Church

Teas and coffees are available after the Melrose service in the Church Hall. All are welcome and if you would like to join the rota of helpers, please send a message to the office.

Choir Rehearsals
