Abbey Consort are back in action – after a two-year gap – in Teviot Church, Hawick, on Saturday, 23rd April at 7.00 pm. The choir, accompanied by a chamber orchestra and directed by Jim Letham, is performing a wonderful programme of mostly Italian music, largely operatic in nature. Puccini (Messa di Gloria, Humming Chorus), Verdi (Anvil Chorus), Bizet (Pearl Fishers’ duet), Leoncavallo (Pagliacci) and Mascagni (Easter Hymn) rub shoulders with Handel (Alcina) and Sullivan (Gondoliers). All very tuneful and guaranteed to lift the spirits! Entry payable at the door; your presence would be greatly appreciated.
