A date and time for the late Jim Marshall’s funeral service will hopefully be confirmed by Thursday 21st or Friday 22nd of April. The cortege will leave from Selkirk, pass Melrose Parish Church with the service at Borders Crematorium. Please keep his family in your prayers at this difficult time.
Abbey Consort are back in action – after a two-year gap – in Teviot Church, Hawick, on Saturday, 23rd April at 7.00 pm. The choir, accompanied by a chamber orchestra and directed by Jim Letham, is performing a wonderful programme of mostly Italian music, largely operatic in nature. Puccini (Messa di Gloria, Humming Chorus), Verdi (Anvil Chorus), Bizet (Pearl Fishers’ duet), Leoncavallo (Pagliacci) and Mascagni (Easter Hymn) rub shoulders with Handel (Alcina) and Sullivan (Gondoliers). All very tuneful and guaranteed to lift the spirits! Entry payable at the door; your presence would be greatly appreciated.
Easter Messy Church
Our next Messy Church is on Sunday 24 April at 3.00pm in Melrose Church Hall. Come along for songs and stories, crafts, games and food! All welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
