Sunday 3 April 2022

A prayer for Ukraine from Christian Aid.

God of all peoples and nations,

Who created all things alive and breathing,

United and whole,

Show us the way of peace that is Your overwhelming presence.

We hold before you the peoples of Ukraine and Russia,

Every child and every adult.

We long for the time

When weapons of war are beaten into ploughshares

When nations no longer lift up sword against nation.

We cry out to you for peace;

Protect those who only desire and deserve to live in security and safety

Comfort those who fear for their lives and the lives of their loved ones

Be with those who are bereaved.

Change the hearts of those set on violence and aggression

And fill leaders with the wisdom that leads to peace.

Kindle again in us a love of our neighbour,

And a passion for justice to prevail and a renewed recognition that we all play a part in peace.

Creator of all hear our prayer

And bring us peace. Make us whole.

Amen

We meet for worship at 9.30am in Bowden Kirk and at 11.00am in Melrose Church. Over the Sundays of Lent and Easter we will be focusing on different places in the story of Jesus. This Sunday it’s Bethany, the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Melrose services are livestreamed, and you can join us on our church website or Facebook page or watch the recording thereafter. www.bowdenandmelrosechurch.org   The order of service is attached. A worship podcast will be posted on Facebook, Instagram and our website on Saturday evening. You can listen on 01896 808551.

Whilst face coverings will no longer be a legal requirement in places of worship from Monday 4 April the Scottish Government continues to strongly encourage the use of protective measures to reduce risk, including wearing face coverings where appropriate, to help keep each other safe.

We continue to encourage 1 metre distancing, 2 metres for those unmasked.
