I trust you are enjoying the lovely weather. Let me get straight to the point…… I’m looking for some help….
HELP PLEASE!
The 11.00am service from Melrose is livestreamed and recorded each Sunday using Facebook Live. I’m looking for a volunteer(s) to set this up each Sunday during July when I will be on holiday. It’s very simple to do and I will give you an instruction sheet….You would need to be on Facebook and I would add you as an administrator of the Church Facebook page. Ideally you would use your own phone… If this is something you would be interested in helping with please get in touch. Thank you.
Worship
During the summer months we’re going on a journey through the Old Testament. The Mid-week Reflection ‘Everything I learned about life I learned from Noah’s Ark’ is on our church Instagram and Facebook pages. https://www.facebook.com/BowdenandMelroseParishChurch/ On Sunday we will turn our attention to the story of Abraham.
We meet for worship at 9.30am in Bowden Kirk and 11.00am in Melrose Church. Numbers in the buildings are still limited and there is still the requirement for distancing, face masks, hand sanitising and trace and protect. You can join us live at 11.00am on Sundays on both Facebook and our website www.bowdenandmelrosechurch.org or watch the recording thereafter. The hymn sheet is attached so you can sing along…. A Sunday Worship podcast will be posted on Facebook and Instagram at 6.00pm on Saturday evening. You can also listen by phoning 01896 808551.
Television and Radio
There are other worship opportunities on Sunday. On BBC 1 Reflections at the Quay is at 11.30am led by Canon Michael McMahon, St Conval’s, Linwood and Rev Maggie McTernan of St Margaret’s, Newlands, Glasgow, with music by Gary Innes. Songs of Praise is on BBC 2 at 1.15pm. New Every Sunday is at 7.30am on Radio Scotland and Sunday Worship at 8.10am on Radio 4. Both will be available afterwards on BBC Sounds.
Prayer
This Sunday Christians across the country – and further afield – will once again join together in prayer and reflection at 7pm in response to the pandemic. The challenges of these last months have left us with many questions. However, we may be sure of this: In all we face, Jesus is with us in the boat in the midst of the storm and we can say: ‘We’re all in this together!’
Lord of the winds and of the sea,
Be with us today
As we turn to You and listen for Your voice.
Whether in the midst of quiet or of storm,
Speak to the depths of who we are.
Lord, in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Lord of the winds and of the sea,
Be with us today
As we leave behind that which is past
And face the challenges of this day:
Speak Your word to us in this present moment.
Lord, in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Lord of the winds and of the sea,
Be with us today
As we sense the depth of the challenges we face
And fear that we shall soon be overwhelmed:
Speak to us in the still, small voice of calm.
Lord, in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Lord of the winds and of the sea,
Be with us today
As You have been with us
In all the days that the storm has raged:
Speak the words that calm the storm and cease the rage.
Lord, in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Lord of the winds and of the sea,
Be with us today
As we hear the words You have spoken
And know the peace of Your presence renewed:
Speak the words that inspire faith and reassure us of Your abiding presence.
Lord, in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
